Eligibility

OK Kids Korral serves pediatric cancer patients and their families. The patient and up to four other people may stay in the suites at OK Kids Korral and one person may stay with patient in the daytime suites under the following conditions:

PATIENTS

  • Patient must sign a general release and waiver of liability form
  • Patient must permanently reside 30 miles or more away or have at least a one hour commute to their treatment facility, unless you are checking in to the daytime suites
  • Patient must be 18 years of age or younger
  • Patient must be in active cancer treatment
  • Patient must have an end date for his/her treatment
  • Patient must have a permanent home address
  • Patient must provide written confirmation from a physician that he/she is free of infectious or communicable diseases
  • Patient must be able to evacuate the building in case of emergency

CAREGIVERS

Caregivers are vital in the patient’s treatment process and to the operations of OK Kids Korral. Caregivers are required to adhere to the following:

  • Caregivers must sign a general release and waiver of liability form
  • Caregivers must be at least 18 years of age
  • Caregiver must be mobile
  • Caregiver must adhere to all Korral policies
  • Caregiver must maintain the cleanliness of their room and common areas
  • Caregiver must provide written confirmation from a physician that he/she is free of infectious or communicable diseases
  • Caregiver must be able to evacuate the building in case of emergency

VISITORS

Up to 4 visitors are welcome to visit the patient during the hours of 9 a.m. – 8 p.m. Monday through Friday. Visitors may visit on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. with prior notification and approval from the Executive Director. All visitors must wear proper identification and must stay in common areas of the house. These areas include: lobby, dining area, indoor playroom, outdoor play area and outside patio. Visitors are not allowed in guest rooms or upstairs at any time. If a patient is too ill to host visitors in the common areas, an exception may be made with prior approval from the manager. The manager may make an exception for neutropenic wing guests or for other medical reasons.
